Lil Kim – Black Friday [Review]

Now before I get into this anticipated response from Lil Kim, let’s take stroll back down memory lane at a few other battles she’s been involved with:

1. Lil Kim – Big Momma Thang (Original version – 2Pac & Faith Evans diss)

My Take: Fresh off 2Pac’s scathing ‘Hit Em Up’, Lil Kim dropped this response where she made references to Faith Evans pregnancy and 2Pac being shot.

Aftermath: Well 2Pac was later killed and I think Faith got a bit of redemption in the movie ‘Notorious.’

2. Lil Kim – Notorious K.I.M. (Foxy Brown & Shyne dis)

My Take: Lil Kim licked shots at fellow BK brethren where she said that Foxy “wasn’t a star and her record company knew.” and made reference to Shyne shooting up the club.

Aftermath: Foxy responded with her verse from CNN’s ‘Bang Bang’ and Shyne never responded.

3. Lil Kim – I Came Back For You (Eve and Foxy Brown dis)

My Take: Lil Kim takes a shot at Eve for a line on ‘Let Me Blow Your Mind’. Took a shot a Foxy just because.

Aftermath: None.

So at the beginning of ‘Black Friday’, there’s a snippet of the interview that Nicki has with Angie Martinez then the beat from Pharoah Monach’s ‘Simon Says’ kicks in and Kim gets to work:

since you putting on a show, you gon’ get the appaulse
clap clap, lift your frame like a fucking garage, yeah
this hood shit you and Drake ain’t built for
this the same shit the other bitch almost got killed for

So a few bars down, Kim tells Nicki “I’m the Blueprint you ain’t nothing brand new
check ya posters and videos, you’ll always be number 2”

Sounds familiar? Jay-Z said a similar line from 1998’s ‘Ride Or Die’ (Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life ) where he told Mase “You see the respect I get every time I come through/Check your own videos, you’ll always be number two”.

black and yellow, will pull up in your ghetto
Giuseppe’s when I step out, posted up in stilettos
pussy so pink like my kitty saying hello
if I whistle, they’ll pistol whip you in all five borough’s

Probably the best lines throughout the entire track.

I smell a massacre
Charles Manson you don’t stand a chance with her
Jeffrey Dahmer you looking like lunch to me
I’m bout to kill all you bitches like Ted Bundy
leave you’re whole head red like Peg Bundy
you’re hilarious, thanks for all the laughs
you’re garbage so I’m taking out the trash

My Take: The track starts out hot but slowly cools down as the lyrics goes on. I doubt that Nicki will respond which will add more fuel to the flame. I’ve been a Lil Kim fan since her Junior M.A.F.I.A. days and I’d rather have fresh tracks from her where she’s showing off her skill.

Here’s two opinions that I saw yesterday:
