I just happened to be on Facebook and I saw a post in my wrestling group that said Rowdy Roddy Piper had passed away. Soon as I peeped that, I went to Twitter and there I saw tweets from Paige and Jim Ross confirming the news.
One of the greatest heel wrestlers that has ever stepped into the squared circle, Piper (born Roderick Toombs) was incredible in that role. Whether it was smacking Jimmy Snuka with a coconut during Piper’s Pit or his Hollywood Backlot Brawl with Goldust at Wrestlemania 12, he was just great at entertaining fans. And who could forget that he was one of the headliners for the very first Wrestlemania? Also, he starred in over twenty films as including the role of John Nada in They Live.
Piper is survived by his wife, Kitty and his four children, daughters Anastacia Shea, Ariel Teal, and Falon Danika, and son Colton Baird. He will be greatly missed.
