Midweek Thoughts 4/18/18

Another Wednesday is here so let’s knock out another edition of Midweek Thoughts.

1. Beychella Fever: If Beychella was just a sample of the HBCU experience, then I may have done this college thing all wrong. I’m still in amazement at the show that I saw early Sunday morning. I watched it a few more times because I knew that it was things that I missed and it was just greatness from beginning to end. If you didn’t see it, I feel bad for you. On another note, Beyonce is donating $25,000 each to four HBCU’s (Xavier, Wilberforce, Tuskegee and Bethune-Cookman Universities) for a scholarship for a student of their choosing.

2. Kendrick Lamar, Pulitzer Prize Winner: When I saw this bit of new come across my TL, I was like ‘well damn’. The committee described his album Damn. as a “virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.” You gotta respect it.

3. Rap Quote:

“The hay got me goin through a stage and I just can’t get enough
Smokin everyday, I got some hay and you know I’m finna roll it up
Make a cloud, I’m gonna take my mind away from all the bullcrap
Bump my sounds, lay back and roll, mack to the freaks that’s on the road
Sometimes I wonder when I was blowed on the streets
Anybody wanna step to me, I’mma see how rough they be” – Wildstyle from Crucial Conflict’s “Hay

4. Bosch: I’ve been watching this series on Amazon Prime Video and it’s a pretty good show. It stars ‎Titus Welliver as Det, Harry Bosch and Jamie Hector as Det. Jerry Edgar. It’s quite a few of alum from The Wire on this series. Check it out if you’re into dramas.

5. Something That Sucks: That abandoned feeling and the world still feels the need to drain you of what energy you have. No one to talk to because you don’t want to dump how you feel on anyone else. So it eats away at you and no one bothers to check to see how you’re feeling but demands your time. Just some rough and tough times on the boulevard.
