Midweek Thoughts 1/10/18

Good (insert part of the day that you read this), readers! Welcome to another edition of Midweek Thoughts. Let’s get into it, shall we?

1. Oprah Winfrey For President?: That’s certainly the vibe that I’ve felt after hearing her speech this past Sunday at the 75th Annual Golden Globes Awards. There has been a raging debate as whether she should run for office or not. This country isn’t deserving of her as President but if she decided to go on that campaign, I’m sure that many would back her in this effort.

2. H&M Under Fire For Image: H&M caught much flack for the image of a young Black boy in a hoodie (jumper if you’re from the U.K.) with a phrase that said ‘Coolest Monkey In The Jungle’. H&M has since apologized but not before coming under fire and losing celebrity endorsements from The Weeknd and G-Eazy. H&M isn’t in my fashion viewpoint but they messed up on that note.

3. Rap Quote:

“Type of nigga made built to last
Look homegirl I pump like gas when
Get your friend and your girl and them
My sex drive workout like a gym, Kim
Was the girl that I used to hit
You the girl that I gotta quit
See the kitty Kit
Gotta gold it like a light
In the night you the freak come out
We don’t bite
No diggity, who took you out
No doubt when I first got down
Made the bro’ shout
Look out, make it live
Dip and dive, staying alive” – Magoo from Missy Elliott’s “Beep Me 911

4. Baltimore City Public School Lacking Heat: In a story that could’ve been featured in Season 4 of HBO’s The Wire, Baltimore City Public Schools are still dealing with lack of heat in its schools. Officials have been scrambling to solve this issue. I remember being a student at Dunbar Middle School back in the early 90’s and there were heating issues then. You would think that BCPS would make sure that students have heating in the schools but the buck has been passed.

5. Black Panther Ticket Sales Soaring: With Black Panther set to be in theaters next month, advance ticket sales are beating that of Captain America: Civil War. I’m just set to watch this film numerous times and enjoy the Blackness that comes with it.
