Good day, readers! Welcome to another edition of Midweek Thoughts. No time to waste, let’s get on with this week’s post!
1. Aaliyah: On yesterday, Aaliyah would have been 39 years of age. Whenever fans talk about her legacy, you have those that downplay what she did in terms of music. Granted, she passed away at a young age but let’s not slander what she did musically. I’m always going to go hard for Babygirl’s music even if this generation of fans attempt to tarnish her memory.
2. Justin Timberlake And Crossed Wires: In an interview with Pitchfork, Justin Timberlake was interviewed by Zane Lowe. During the interview, Nipplegate was revisited. Justin stated that he had his ‘wires crossed’ and also he felt that ‘Ok, well you know, you can’t change what’s happened but you can move forward and learn from it.’ Justin didn’t feel the wrath that Janet did. He went on to have a successful solo career. We’re all reminded of the privilege that’s afforded to white men and how they skate responsibilities when the spotlight’s on them.
3. Rap Quote:
“Is y’all niggas crazy? I’ll bust you and be Swayze
Stop actin’ like a baby; mind your business, lady!
Nosy people get it too, when you see me spit at you
You know I’m tryin’ to get rid of you, yeah I know, it’s pitiful
That’s how niggas get down, watch my niggas spit rounds
Make y’all niggas kiss ground, just for talkin’ shit, clown
Oh, you think it’s funny? Then you don’t know me, money
It’s about to get ugly, fuck it, dawg, I’m hungry
I guess you know what that mean, come up off that green
Rob niggas on ravine, don’t make it a murder scene
Give a dog a bone, leave a dog alone
Let a dog roam and he’ll find his way home” – DMX from “Ruff Ryders Anthem”
4. Did The Rockets Want To Square Up With The Clippers: That’s what the reports were saying postgame between the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Clippers. Both teams were jarring during the Jan. 15th game but the comedy came in the form of jokes from social media and Inside The NBA.
5. In Living Color: With the success of Bruno Mars and Cardi B’s Finesse Remix, the nostalgia of the 90’s FOX sketch comedy show has been huge. Episodes air on the cable channel Aspire and it’s always good to go back down that lane.
